SYLVIA THOMAS
About me
I am a producer, writer, and editor for REI Co-op Studios’ award-winning podcast Wild Ideas Worth Living. Audio storytelling isn’t just what I do—it’s my craft. With over a decade of experience in interviewing and radio production, I’ve learned how to bring stories to life, no matter where they come from.
Though I call Minneapolis, MN home, I work remotely as a Senior Producer for Puddle Creative, a podcast production agency based in Portland, OR. My passion for crafting compelling stories has taken me across the globe—literally. Thanks to a Watson Fellowship in 2014-2015, I spent a year traveling to 35 community radio stations in South America, Asia, and Africa, soaking in the stories of people from all walks of life. I am fascinated by the human experience and the complex, unique, and multifaceted lives that we live here on earth.

When I’m not producing an episode or searching for the next great story, I am planning travel adventures or practicing capoeira (a Brazilian martial art). I’m a proud Macalester College grad and an alum of the Salt Institute of Documentary Studies, where I honed my skills in the art of narrative. Before then, I was a freelance producer for KFAI radio in Minneapolis.
“I believe that every great idea deserves an even greater story—and that’s what I’m here to create” – Sylvia Thomas
